libmagic-dev software package provides File type determination library using magic numbers (development), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libmagic-dev
libmagic-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libmagic-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libmagic-dev *
You will get with libmagic-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
